Core use of helium compressor
Core use of helium compressor
Helium compressor is a kind of equipment specially used for compressing high purity helium, its core uses can be summarized as the following five fields:
1. Low temperature refrigeration and vacuum system
Helium compressors are key drivers of cryopump systems or other refrigeration units that provide high-purity helium to maintain ultra-low temperatures (such as near absolute zero). These applications are common:
Astronomical observation equipment: infrared detector and other components for cooling the telescope;
Scientific research: such as particle accelerators, cooling of superconducting magnets;
Semiconductor manufacturing: Provides a vacuum environment for front-end processes such as evaporation, sputtering and ion implantation.
2. Semiconductor and electronics industry
In the semiconductor field, helium compressors are used:
Maintain a high cleanliness vacuum environment to ensure the precision of wafer processing;
In conjunction with the gas recovery system, reduce helium waste (due to helium scarcity and high cost).
3. Medical equipment cooled
The extremely low boiling point of helium makes it an ideal cooling medium for medical devices, for example:
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): Cooling the superconducting electromagnet to maintain a stable magnetic field;
CT scanner: some high-end equipment relies on helium refrigeration technology.
4. Helium recovery and recycling
Because helium is scarce and expensive, compressors play an important role in recovery systems:
The helium used for leak detection or industrial use is liquefied and stored through multi-stage compression (up to 343mpa);
The dedicated helium compressor uses a double-sealed design to prevent small leaks (ordinary breathing air compressors cannot meet the requirements).
5. Industrial gas power and special process
Metalworking: Used in quenching processes to avoid oxidation and replace oil coolants;
High precision welding: as a protective gas to prevent the weld from oxidation;
Deep-sea diving and space: Provide a test environment for breathing mixtures or propulsion systems.
Technology classification: According to the pressure requirements, helium compressors can be divided into low pressure (100mpa) and other types, multi-stage compression design can meet the needs of different scenarios.
